Postpartum Instructor & Mentor
Amelia Varney
Amelia became a certified postpartum doula through Life Cycle Doulas in 2018, following in the footsteps of her mother, Gina, the founder of Life Cycle. Amelia’s practice centers on the belief that holding space for challenges while lovingly supporting each family eases the transition for both parents and babies. Her non-judgmental, open-hearted approach has helped new families thrive, not just survive.
Raised by a full-spectrum birth doula and advocate, Amelia was welcomed into the doula community with love and support. Growing up surrounded by doulas, she gained a deep understanding of the importance of professional, nonjudgmental support during life’s transformative moments.
In addition to her postpartum certification, Amelia has completed trainings in childbirth education, breastfeeding support, birth doula training, and lactation counseling. She is also a certified Girl Talk instructor. Amelia facilitates Life Cycle Doula trainings, offering a module focused on communication skills, holding space, self-care, and the day-to-day expectations for postpartum doulas. She also hosts birth workshops and manages Buffalo Doula Collective, LLC, where she matches doulas with families and mentors new doulas.
Amelia believes that when doulas and families are well cared for, informed, and supported, they can overcome any obstacle.
