Mary Miller

Mary has over 20 years of experience in public health and human services, with nearly 10 years as a certified postnatal doula offering birth and postpartum support. She is the founder of WNY Orofacial & Breastfeeding Support Center, a specialty lactation private practice in East Aurora, NY, where she mentors apprentices seeking IBCLC certification and assists families in navigating the complex web of services for treating tethered oral tissues (TOTs). Mary provides treatment for infants and young children to develop functional orofacial skills.

Mary earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Rhode Island. In 2018, she completed her Master of Arts in Health and Wellness, with a concentration in Lactation Studies, from Union Institute & University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Leadership and Change with a concentration in Public Policy from Antioch University. Her dissertation research focuses on the health policy implications of clinical guidance documents that inform healthcare professionals’ practices in assessing, diagnosing, and treating tethered oral tissues (such as tongue, lip, or cheek ties). 

Mary is the Program Director for National Louis University’s Maternal and Child Health Studies Program and serves as Program Chair for both the Bachelor of Science in Maternal Child Health and the Master of Arts in Human Lactation programs. She is a member of the International Consortium of Oral Ankylofrenula Professionals, the International Affiliation of Tongue Tie Professionals, the International Lactation Consultant Association, the American Laser Dental Study Club, the United States Lactation Consultant Association, and co-coordinates a local educational gathering for healthcare professionals interested in learning about tethered oral tissues and networking with other providers.
