BIPOC LGBTQ+ Training

Representation in birth work saves lives

We don’t just train doulas—

we’re building a movement of birth workers committed to equity, advocacy, and community-centered care.

At Life Cycle Doulas, we recognize the deep inequities in maternal health care. Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and LGBTQ+ individuals face higher maternal mortality rates, systemic barriers, and a lack of culturally competent care.

We believe that by training prepared and supported advocates, equipped to support and empower families, we can bridge gaps and inspire change.

Our specialized training is designed to equip doulas from these communities with the skills, knowledge, and support needed to provide affirming, bias-free birth and postpartum care.

Why This Training Matters

Maternal health care in the U.S. fails too many families, particularly those in BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. The numbers tell the story. Doulas play a critical role in bridging these gaps, advocating for informed choice, and ensuring families receive the support they deserve.

  • Black women are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women.
  • Indigenous communities experience some of the highest maternal and infant mortality rates.
  • LGBTQ+ birthing people often face discrimination, misgendering, and a lack of inclusive care.
